As if the City hadn't been strange enough, the addition of certain persons from his own reality was enough to throw 'weird' into the 'bizarre' category. He'd been adjusting well enough, though deep down he still doubted that this was all just another experiment; another test at the Facility. Perhaps he hadn't broken free at all, had never really met Anke and hadn't really done a thing to break down the Das'nei empire. He couldn't shake the feeling that this place was really no place at all.
And then Joey had appeared. Her arrival throwing everything he'd convinced himself of, and the fact that she knew him and seemed to trust him only confused him more. Regardless, the large box at the party had had his name on it and the contents had been Joey. Not that Mal took this as a serious possession, but still.
Outside the party, the street was cool; dimly lit and vacant save for themseves. She was still grasping his hand and the action was making him a little cautious, if not a bit confused. "You alright?" Mal asked, tone even.
